Objective 1: Support Area Schools in Obtaining Maryland Green School
Criteria 2) Student Programs
NCEEC serves all schools in the Charles County Public School System. While our programs support other than those trying to achieve Green School status, they provide us an opportunity to meet with more teachers to encourage them to consider the Green Schools application process for their school. Three full-time educators and one director facilitate all of the programs listed below.

Fifth Grade Experience
The Charles County Board of Education mandates that NCEEC's main focus be the 1,700 fifth grade students attending an outdoor experience coordinated by NCEEC staff each school year. Student's learning their place in the watershed is the emphasis of the trip. This is part of their Meaningful Watershed Education Experience.

School Outreach
NCEEC supports CCPS by offering a variety of outreach programs. Preschool children participate in Wild/Not Wild, a program that teaches the difference between domestic and wild animals through games and stories. First graders participate in Bird Clues, a program that teaches bird adaptations through songs and educational materials and shows students a live bird. Sixth graders participate in Our Watershed which makes use of our two Environscape models. Seventh Graders participate in Raptor Ecology, learning how raptors deal with other organisms and their surroundings. Raptor Ecology also involves dissecting owl pellets and meeting a live raptor.

Middle and High School Site Programs
The Charles County Board of Education mandates that NCEEC's main focus be on the fifth grade students attending an outdoor experience at NCEEC. In between the fifth grade field trips we occasionally we have middle schools and high school classes and clubs visit our site to learn about environmental investigation issues.

Teaching Resources Support for Teachers
Lesson plans and resources were provided to several schools to support their environmental issues investigations. NCEEC staff discussed ideas along with other green school related topics with CCPS staff through phone calls and emails.
